CoViD - 19

We have carried out a risk assessment under advice of the General Chiropractic Council: http://maristowchiropractic.co...

Current advice for patients: Updated March 17th 2020:

Following the Government's announcement yesterday, advising the whole population to begin social distancing, we would like to clarify our current position:

We are taking every precaution to reduce infection risk, by thorough and frequent cleaning. Hygiene arrangements within the clinic are paramount at this time, and public health guidelines are being rigidly adhered to.

For those patients who are at an increased risk of severe illness from COVID-19 and who are less urgent cases (minimal symptoms or attending for a routine check up), we advise that you contact us to defer your care; please phone us to reschedule your appointment.

However: if you are in great need, such as suffering severe pain, or personally deem your treatment to be essential, and we judge that it is safe to treat you, (provided you do not present with COVID-19 symptoms and you accept the risks of being in contact with others) we will offer the following:

Please let us know before your booking or appointment time that you would like to be treated as a higher risk status so we can make the above arrangements.

Patients who do not want to attend appointments throughout this difficult time can cancel and no penalty charges will be applied.

With daily changes to the Governments advice, we will continue to keep this policy under review.

Thank you for your continued support!

Olympic Park Velodrome experience:

Kay took part in a velodrome experience as part of a talk about how Chiropractor are increasingly involved in professional sport:

IAAF World Championships London 2017

Kay was one of 5 Sports Chiropractors working within the medical services team at the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Athletics Championships from 4-13 August 2017. The championships, which are being held at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, involve 3,300 athletes from more than 200 countries and the chiropractors worked alongside physiotherapists, osteopaths, sports massage therapists, sports doctors, pharmacists and radiologists to provide a modern and first class service for the athletes’ needs.

Having worked at the Sailing Venue for the 2012 Paralympics it is another amazing opportunity for Kay to be involved at an international event where members of different healthcare professions work together as a team to provide high quality, athlete-centred care. The medical centre was on the warm up track at the centre of the athletes' daily activities. Kay both treated and scanned athletes to help diagnose injuries and was able to contribute to discussions about whether an athlete should continue in competition or not.

Kay is very aware that the whole medical team together did their bit to support the athletes but felt that her most important role was to represent her profession. As part of her role on the Committee of the Sports and Exercise Faculty of the Royal College of Chiropractors, one of her objectives is to raise awareness of sports Chiropractic nationally. So her highlight was undoubtedly when a World Champion walked in and asked to see the duty Chiropractor!
